The opportunity to turn what you love into a career is something few of us are fortunate enough to have.  My journey began with a love of all animals and particularly dogs when I was a little girl.  I begged my Mom and Dad to let me get a dog for my 11th birthday.  I wore them down enough that they finally said yes! I was SO excited and delighted in having a dog.  Since then, I have been blessed to have many wonderful dogs that all have a special place in my heart. 

The last dog I adopted in 2020 - Miss Moneypenny (the scruffy white terrier that is part of the Dog3 Training logo) brought challenges that I had not dealt with in training my other dogs. She had fear and reactivity issues, and I wanted to learn more about behavior and training to help her - and me!  I took her to classes and hired a trainer. The deeper I looked into training, the more excited I became about the techniques, philosophy and positive reinforcement methods developed and used by trainers from the Karen Pryor Academy.  I realized how much it resonated with me when I started using these methods, and how much it helped my dog. I knew I could turn this into a career I would love and enrolled in the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional program.  Upon graduating in 2022 I earned their certification as a Certified Training Partner! 

How can I help you? I can help you understand how your dog learns, how to build effective, clear communication between you and your dog and make learning fun and rewarding! As a KPA CTP, I promise to teach and train using force-free principles so that you and your dog develop a bond built on trust and respect. 

Oh, and the beautiful dog in this picture? That is Tikka, the most amazing Labradoodle I know!  Her family was kind enough to let me borrow her as my partner dog for school, and this is a picture of us on the day we graduated.  I look forward to helping you and your dog build better communication for a lifetime of companionship and fun!
